My name is NOT Steve!!!

Welcome To

Single Handed Yachting

My name is Keith White, and in June 2005, I will be sailing around the British Isles, Single handed. Other people may have sailed single handed, however, I will be sailing literally SINGLE HANDED. In 1991, I was involved in a road traffic accident, which left me disabled, without the use of my left arm. Therefore when I say I am sailing single handed, I am not just sailing alone...

I will be sailing in my boat, named NEPHELE, covering the entire coastline of the British Isles, starting at the Thames, and sailing north towards Scotland. You'll find a map on MY PROGRESS page, that shows you my route, and once underway, you'll be able to see where I've got to.

This sailing expedition is being completed in order to raise money for a number of charities, and I am looking for sponsors to help me make as much money as possible, to help these charities continue the work they do. At the bottom of this page you will see there is a list of the charities that I am supporting.

If you would also like to show your support, please visit my DONATIONS page for more information on how to donate, or alternatively please visit my CONTACT page, for a sponsorship form. After you have made a donation or pledge, could I ask you to please email me the details i.e. the amount you have donated or pledged, and which charity you have chosen.

Anywhere that you see this sign you can do this. This is so that I can show on this page how much is being raised from your generosity and my endeavor.

I was recently interviewed by the BBC News team and the Scotsman.com, when they heard about my challenge.

If you click on the following links you can see what they had to say.

RNLI logo RNLI-Providing Safety At Sea The Royal National Lifeboat Institution saves lives at sea.

In the 30 seconds or so it will take you to read this sentence, the cost of maintaining the nation's maritime rescue service will have been over £95 - not a penny of which comes from the government.

The RNLI is funded almost entirely by voluntary donations and legacies. For us to continue to save lives at sea and fund our plans for the future, we need your help.

The Psoriasis Association logo

Founded in 1968 by Dr Dick Coles the Association has three fundamental aims:

To support those who have psoriasis
To raise awareness about psoriasis
To fund research into the causes of and treatments for psoriasis

After 36 years the Association remains committed to those aims. Every telephone call we receive from someone who is suicidal, or has lost their job because of psoriasis or wants to know how to help their child with psoriasis reinforces that commitment.
